Matthew 5:42 -

42 To him who asks of you, ¹give; and from him who wants to borrow from you, do not turn away.

42¹ Giving to one who asks and not turning away from a borrower prove that the kingdom people do not care for material things and are not possessed by them.

I confess, I do care for some material things. Like cute stationery from Taiwan. Like my calligraphy parchment paper. I get stingy sometimes when it comes to letting the same people borrow my best pencils, which they often lose or forget to return. Or offering people food, and they take more than their fair share. But I shouldn't care. If I want to be a kingdom person, I can't care.

But what if I think they don't deserve it? What if I think that limiting them to what they take is for their own good and discipline?

Matthew 5:7 -

7 Blessed are the ¹merciful, for they shall be shown mercy.

7¹ To be righteous is to give one what he deserves, whereas to be merciful is to give one what he does not deserve. For the kingdom of the heavens we need to be not only righteous but also merciful.

Be merciful. There's my answer.

What have I been doing with my life?

After reading a xanga post of a good friend of mine, it has put me at a loss for words.
I am such a fallen sinner.
I've been wasting my time procrastinating, on the computer, engaging in worldly conversations, and lacking the church life for so, soooo long. Yet, I got good grades in school, received quite some attention from friends at school, and life was just too swell...all in such a secular sense. But this entire time, this entire time, I lacked the Lord.
I felt nothing. No joy, no genuine feelings of happiness. It was all so fake.
Yet, what disgusts me the most is how I enjoyed it, how I was so satisfied with myself, and how I didn't yearn for the Lord like I used to, how I never came to Him throughout the day, how I lived life so independently through my mind instead of my spirit, how I gave in to my soulish pleasures instead of putting the Lord at the head of all things in my life.
How could I have gone on for so long like this??
I now make a quick reference to my friend's post: I want to be broken. I don't want to live the life that so many people crave for - the life of attention and of good grades. Lord, take it away and bring me back to You.

Create in me a clean heart, O God,
And renew a right spirit within me.
Cast me not away from Thy presence;
Take not Thy holy Spirit from me.
Restore unto me the joy of Thy salvation;
And renew a right spirit within me.

The more I think about it, the more I believe that God wrote that post for me, wanted to bring me back to Him. He knew I'd see it, knew I'd read it and it'd open my eyes to reveal my sinful, shameful being.

It's been too long, Lord.
Just bring me back to You.

Spring Conference 2008: How to Conduct Ourselves

This year's spring conference was so practical! Amen for that. For those who missed it, I have a feeling this is gonna be long, so sit tight...:

We all need to be proper vessels so the Lord can completely fill us up and express Himself through us...but He can't if our vessels are full of holes.
Each time we procrastinate, there's a hole.
When we sleep late, whoops - another hole.
Being lazy, waking up late, rushing to get chores done, complaining, not doing things in our spirit...holeholeholeholehole.
How do we expect the Lord to fill our vessels then? He'll just leak out. So we gotta learn to patch ourselves up.

And that patch is having a good character. How to build up our character:

1. BE GENUINE.
This means we have to be the same within and without. People are not genuine when they act one way toward one person, then act completely different to another, just to "fit in." We gotta learn to go against the flow sometimes, for the Lord's sake, and act genuinely and truly to everyone.

2. BE EXACT.
This means to be punctual in time, accurate in words and precise in work. When we are told to do something, we do EVERYTHING we're told, down to the details. If we're told to get somewhere at a certain time, we're there.

3. BE STRICT.
Now here's where many young people have issues. This is where procrastination falls under. To be strict is to not be loose with yourself. When you procrastinate, you're being easy on yourself, only doing something when you feel like doing it, and only if you want to. This shows lack of discipline. We have to learn to do things when we don't want to do them, and deny ourselves.

4. BE DILIGENT.
We must be constant in accomplishing something; just like Peter couldn't catch any fish, he waited all night, so diligently until finally, he received his reward and was abundant with fish. In the same way, we have to learn to be persistent and not give up.

5. BE BROAD.
We need to be open to others and accepting. Instead of thinking we're always right, we should learn from others. Although we have to be strict on ourselves, we must be loose on others

6. BE THOROUGH.
We need to pay attention to accuracy and detail, and leave no stone unturned. When we are told to wash the dishes, we shouldn't quickly rinse them off and then run away. Instead, we should carefully scrub without missing a spot. In everything we are told to do, we should fully complete.

7. HAVE COMMITMENT.
This point tells us that we have to put our heart into what we do, and endure to the end. When we make a promise, we keep it, just like David didn't rest until he built a house for the Lord.

8. ENDURE SUFFERING.
Jesus suffered so much for us. We have to learn to endure suffering too, like when we are made fun of for our beliefs. But we have to stick strong to the Lord, and suffer for Him, because He suffered for us, and we really owe him.

All these attributes were exemplified by the Lord. If we are to express the Lord, we have to display all these points in our character. Our character is 30% inborn and 70% habit; praise the Lord for that 70%! It is never too late for us to change!

SORRY FOLKS, but building up our character was only part I. This next point, education, should actually go before character, since the three most important things in life are God, education, and character, in that order. Here goes:

Who knew education was SO IMPORTANT??? apparently, it comes right after God in priorities in life. You may think the purpose of education in school is to get into a good college and get a good job and make money, but there's more to it that that.

Education shapes our character.

It makes you do things you don't want to do, when you don't want to do it.

It gives us a habit of completing things under a deadline.

It teaches us accountability and responsibility.

Education keeps us busy, and keeps us very well disciplined. It develops habits in us that are needed to become proper human vessels and useful to our Master, so we can accurately and fully express Him.

Brothers and sisters, we can't waste time! We have to have a learning spirit and be open to the Lord, to allow him to shape us, to change us, to build up our character so He can use us, and we can express Him.

"But if I delay, I write that you may know HOW ONE OUGHT TO CONDUCT HIMSELF in the house of God, which is the church of the living God, the pillar and base of the truth."

the facebook app Daily Bible Scriptures has the best verses ever. Too bad i never write them down....so maybe i'll post them here.
Every time I read the daily verse, I'm always so touched by it, and can totally relate.

the Lord is our great Comforter....Amen for that. I want to spread His comfort to everyone else. I wanna comfort other people. Make them smile with the words I say. No, with the words He says, through me.

Lord, through my times of stress, Comfort me. And let it spread.

friend: "I hate you...I mean I'm still glad for you, but I hate you." giggle giggle.

Erm, thanks.
Maybe so you won't hate me, I'll try not to do so well next time. Maybe you'll like me then. Why do you hate me? Is it because you don't want anyone else to get a 100 if you didn't? I guess it's okay for you to say that, if you're supposed to be the only one in the class to get the highest grade in the class for everything.
Ok, I'm sorry. Next time, I hope that you ace the test, and I'll try to make enough mistakes to get an 89 or something.
An instead of hating you, I'll congratulate you. Because that's what friends do.

I know you're kidding. Maybe you honestly are happy for me. And I'm just overreacting. In that case, disregard the above rant.

and every other day where there's nothing, i will be studying for SAT II bio, chem, and doing my C++ project.
hm. that's not too bad of a winter break, i don't think.

If Jesus Came...

Would you have to change your clothes before you let Him in?
Or hide some magazines, and put the Bible where they'd been?

Would you hide your worldly music and put some hymn books out?
Could you let Jesus walk right in, or would you rush about?

And I wonder if the Savior spent a day or two with you,
Would you go right on doing, the things you always do?

Would you go right on saying, the things you always say?
Or would life for you continue as it does from day to day?

Would you take Jesus with you everywhere you go?
Or would you maybe change your plans for just a day or so?

Would you be glad to have Him meet your closest friends?
Or would you hope they stay away until His visit ends?

Would you be glad to have Him stay forever on and on?
Or would you sigh with great relief when He at last was gone?

It might be interesting to know, the things that you would do,
If Jesus came in person, to spend some time with you.
